Inside the Collaboration: Schoolhouse x Clare V.

Ever since designer Clare Vivier launched Clare V. 15 years ago, we’ve been fans of her bold use of color and timeless style—two things we’re very familiar with at Schoolhouse. Which got us thinking: What would it feel like to live inside of her iconic accessories brand? The brainstorming began, and now we’re thrilled to present a brand new home collection that combines Schoolhouse’s nostalgic designs with Clare V.’s cheerful optimism.

“My approach to design is to always think about what I want to be wearing, but also what’s inspiring me. It could be color, form, structure, or an overall vibe,” Clare says. “To me, this translates perfectly to furniture. I want to be living in a home that reflects me.” In this case, frequent trips to France, where she spends her time when she’s not in Los Angeles, influenced the collection’s mood board.

“While our brands have so many parallels in how we approach our designs, it was exciting to stretch outside our usual references and into Clare’s world,” says Katie Elliott, Schoolhouse VP of Design.

The result? A world where stripes, checks, and animal prints live on shag wool rugs, tailored sofas, and plush pillows; and where lighting is high-gloss and catchalls look candy-coated. The entire collection is proof that personal style doesn’t end with your closet—it’s a part of your entire lifestyle.

Finding the Perfect Palette

The first step to designing the collection involved landing on a color palette that would blend Schoolhouse’s classic-leaning hues with Clare V.’s  bright accents. As a result, luxurious creams and tans mingle with punches of fiery red, a vibrant green, and a cool blue. Together, the mix is cool and classic all at once.

Layering in Patterns

Checks, jaguar print, and stripes—Clare is no stranger to using a bold pattern in her accessories. To translate her signature prints into the Felix Shag Wool Rug, the Georges Shag Wool Pillow, and even the Marc Striped Sofa, we played with scale, layered checks and stripes, and even styled them all together for an effortlessly cool layered look. Yes, in this case, even checkerboard is a neutral.

Putting It All Together

Following color and pattern, we looked to Clare V.’s shapes and textures to inspire the collection’s lighting, such as the perforated Piet Table Lamp, which nods to Clare V.’s leather handbags, and the Hans Task Lamp, which borrows a charm detail from a clutch. And just like a well-curated closet, every piece of the collection works together, no matter how you style them in your own home. Layered or alone, they’re a joyful way to add personal expression to the everyday.
