Continuous Improvement: UL Lighting Updates
Here at Schoolhouse we hold a special place in our heart for the Japanese Kaizen philosophy of continuous improvement. From product design to engineering, our hardworking team is always looking for ways to make the customer experience the best it can be. Often our “Want Better Not More” mentality leads us to make changes to our existing assortment.
“Many companies cycle through product by releasing new ones and creating ‘planned obsolescence’ for when they will retire older designs. We don’t do that here." says Product Designer Tana Sollars. "Sometimes we let go of the old to make way for the new, but often times we look to revive our existing products by offering them in new finishes or by tweaking the design to make it more user-friendly."
In our ongoing quest for improvement, this Fall, our design team took a few of our iconic sconces and made some smart updates.
The Radar
Inspired by a light fixture found on an old industrial parts washer, its design reflects utility in every detail. This season, the Radar returns with a new toggle switch, UL cording, and fresh embossed detailing.
The Isaac
Arcing lines and a timeless silhouette work together to create this iconic fixture inspired by Scandinavian designs. The perfect embodiment of function and form, the entire Isaac family is now UL listed.
The Princeton
Stately, beautiful, and functional, The Princeton is a timeless accent light for any room in the house. With an elegant yet durable vinyl cloth covered cord, all Princeton Sconces are now UL listed.
